During my travels of Northern India, outside a temple I saw a sign
board written in English and Hindi "Begging is prohibited". Only if
beggars could read!
Whoever goes in temple masquerade their begging in the name of
chanting sermons and offering prayers! Less fortunate poor people beg for a
morsel of food where as so called civilized people come to temple begging for
money, power, love... the list goes on and on. Then there are so called
spiritualist performing bone chilling austerities to beg for salvation.
What's the point of all these prayers and austerities and rituals
to please god if we can't see the god in less fortunate people sitting outside
temple begging for survival to meet life's basic needs! Isn't it hypocritical
to kick these street urchins aside and donate money in the name of god to
safeguard a place in heaven?
I never heard or read about any god or god's messengers who did
not serve dying and needful people around them. Christ, Krishna, Muhammad, Guru
Nanak, Buddha, Zoroaster.... all sacred deities devoted their life to uplift the spirit of fellow human beings.
Every one of us, irrespective of our beliefs and religions should
first help to build up fellow human beings, no matter how small or big our
contribution is. Every little steps counts.
