RAINBOW

I remember the simpler times
When I thought it was god’s bow in the sky
The colors were filled by fairies
I didn’t know what it was, still it gave me joy
But Now it’s just a rainbow,
I see the colors but don’t feel the joy
Lately I stopped looking up in the sky
Life has shown so many colors
I stopped caring for the colors in the bow
But the child inside kicks me every now and then
Asks me why don’t I have colors in my life
The colors I adored and craved as kid
Why the heart is shadowed with darkness
Why can’t I find joy in simpler things?
Little does he know, that time has gone
That kid has grown…
For him, the rainbow is gone, forever.

Are You Breathing or Are You Living?

Life sometimes hit us with moments, charged with pain that it makes our soul shudder and we end up wishing that life filled with all those cheerful moments isn't worth to live through this charged moment of sheer pain. But, fact is, we keep on living, ignoring the pain, try to cover it with diversions of work, wine and facade of a happy face, till there comes a time when we forget what it is actually that we are running from. So we turn to philosophy, religion and nature. We talk, search, contemplate to find answers, hoping that some wise words would cure us. But after hours of mental masturbation we come to the conclusion, which we already knew, deep in our hearts.

There is no escape.

We cover ourselves with gloomy clouds of unfulfilled dreams, desires and misunderstood emotions. We wait for the sun to clear the clouds, for tide of time to turn, for luck to change our fate but nothing happens except, aging.

Don't wait, grab the problems by its balls. Old age will happen, time will run out.

Shit and past are not meant to be treasured, but flushed. the longer it stays, the more it stinks.

Flush the past filled with regrets. Start all over. Death spared no one, it won't make an exception. Everyone feels messed up sometimes or other in their life, those who don't, haven't lived, only breathed air in an out.

If we learn to differentiate between breathing to survive and living to flourish, most problems would be solved.

Big Nothing

Are we so caught up in our fast tracked life for earning money to relieve our hard-on for materialistic desires that simple, innate fun of being alive, witnessing sunrise, admiring company of each other without saying a single word, seems like a fantasy in some comic book. Earth quake even the tiniest one shapes and reshapes, structure of planet and of people inhabiting it. Just like earth we are also warned with mild shock waves to restructure our life but we just don’t give a shit, until a major quake rips our life apart and by the time we realise it, game over! Don‘t worry, nobody is dead yet, except the little kid inside us who dreamt the impossible dreams. Most of us forget that we were kid once, full of hopes and serenity. Grownups have hopes, but of becoming something or someone. But kids have hopes of being not becoming, that’s the difference. Serenity is innate when we were kids but now we need an orgasm and gallons of alcohol to climb the ladder of serenity, that too momentarily. Embrace the kid inside us, keep him alive. He was there when you took your first step, makes sure he stays when you take your last step, otherwise the whole journey would sum up to... BIG NOTHING!

Desires of Heart

      Every moment passes by,
Makes my love blossom.
Every time my heart beats,
It sings only one name.

I can't say how sorry I am,
For not being there when you cried.
I’ll be with you through every step of life,
Give me a chance to set things right.

To go on an odyssey of our dreams,
It’s not as easy as it sounds,
but with you on my side,
We can and we shall live the life we want.

Dying Gods

Everyone knows the anecdote of five blind men, who were asked to describe an elephant. But aren’t we all blinded by our ignorance at some degree or another. Hence it would be hypocritical to call someone blind just because of sensory disability. So I would like to change the beginning of the story. Let’s say five men who had never seen an elephant were asked to describe an elephant kept in utter darkness.

Each one of them groped various parts of elephant in dark and gave their opinion as they perceived. None of them matched. But they were all correct from their point of view. Some said elephant is rubbery long limb. Some said it is a giant pillar. One of them passed in between the legs without touching elephant and hence concluded there is no such thing as elephant. It's just figment of imagination.

Are we any different from these men when we talk about god? We are all slaves of our senses trying to describe the magnanimity of god which is beyond senses yet it resides in heart of everyone. What believers perceive as god, atheists perceive as super-consciousness of mind.

From our cave dwelling days to the current age of space exploration mankind has fought with members of his own species in the name of holy land, religion, and god -- The genocides to convert from one religion to another, the massacres to build temples, mosques, churches and synagogues. We fight for a god we haven’t even seen, yet we fail to acknowledge the god that resides in each one of us.

Unless we start respecting and loving each other as most people do to their gods, deities and set of beliefs. There could never be a spiritual progress.

What I find sad is that people with luxury of having decent food, shelter and clothes are talking adamantly about god, religion and holy lands that they are forgetting millions of sons and daughters of god who are dying of starvation around the world.

Our unfortunate brothers and sisters, children of god, our countrymen struggling to survive... they are dying! And along with them god inside them is suffering. He is waiting for people with advantage to stop the hypocrisy over religion and actually lend a hand to help them nourish, to lead better life, to accomplish freedom from their sufferings and finally attain enlightenment.

Isn't that the gist of all religious books?

Begging is Prohibited

During my travels of Northern India, outside a temple I saw a sign board written in English and Hindi "Begging is prohibited". Only if beggars could read!

Whoever goes in temple masquerade their begging in the name of chanting sermons and offering prayers! Less fortunate poor people beg for a morsel of food where as so called civilized people come to temple begging for money, power, love... the list goes on and on. Then there are so called spiritualist performing bone chilling austerities to beg for salvation.

What's the point of all these prayers and austerities and rituals to please god if we can't see the god in less fortunate people sitting outside temple begging for survival to meet life's basic needs! Isn't it hypocritical to kick these street urchins aside and donate money in the name of god to safeguard a place in heaven?

I never heard or read about any god or god's messengers who did not serve dying and needful people around them. Christ, Krishna, Muhammad, Guru Nanak, Buddha, Zoroaster.... all sacred deities devoted their life to uplift the spirit of fellow human beings.

Every one of us, irrespective of our beliefs and religions should first help to build up fellow human beings, no matter how small or big our contribution is. Every little steps counts.

I'm Just a Bird

I am a bird lost in the world of two legged giants,
They call themselves human,
Last I heard they forgot humanity.

God, you must have been mistaken,
when you created human.

Little by little they occupied our planet,
you said it was an evolution
well dear god its your self destruction.

I hope you are still here to see what you have done,
Its only begun but worse is yet to come.

I am just glad to come to an end of my misery,
Crushed by human is not an ideal situation,
But I am just a tiny bird in your creation.
